ACOPS is an international, private, independent, non-political organisation enjoying the status of a UK charitable company. It is funded by foundations, governmental and intergovernmental institutions, companies and private individuals.
ACOPS works closely with a small team of internationally recognised experts who cover most aspects of the protection of the marine environment and sustainable use of its resources. Experts come from all relevant fields of ocean law, policy, management and science including fisheries management, oceanography, marine pollution research and control, marine and coastal geography, ecology and biology. They provide a solid basis to the multidisciplinary, trans-sectoral, cooperative approach encouraged by ACOPS under the rule of law.
The internal structure of ACOPS consists of Turstees, a Chair of the Board of Trustees, a Honorary president, an Administrator and Advisors.
